Description

This trail is a part of the Florida Trailwalker Program. It is described as being one of the most rugged trails is Florida. There were quite a few big hills along the way. It takes you through a mix of dense oak and cypress forest and open pine forest. There are no toilets or water available.

Directions

From SR 44 in Inverness, go S on Citrus CR 581 for 2 miles. Holder Mine Recreation Area sign is on W (right) side of the road. Turn W on to Forest Rd. 10 (Trail 10), go 2 miles. Trailhead kiosk and parking area is at the W end of the recreation area, on the S (left) side of the road, intersection of Forest Roads 9 & 10. From US Hwy. 41 in Brooksville, go N for 5 miles, turn left at the "Y" on to Snow Memorial Highway (Hernando CR 481). The road number changes to Citrus CR 581 at the county line. Go N on 481/581 for 13 miles to the Holder Mine Recreation Area sign on the W side of the road. Turn W on to Forest Rd. 10 (Trail 10), go 2 miles. Trailhead kiosk and parking area is at the W end of the recreation area, on the S (left) side of the road, intersection of Forest Roads 9 & 10.
